Cherry Blossom Boat Tour! – 20s & 30s Going Out Group

Let's check out the cherry blossoms! I've reserved a 65-foot double decker yacht (Boomerang) for us, and made special arrangements with a captain and crew to take us down the Potomac for a 2 hour tour (compared to 50 minute tours offered elsewhere) that: • Highlights the panoramic view of the ~4000 cherry blossom trees surrounding the Tidal Basin, Jefferson Memorial, FDR Memorial, National Mall, and Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial! • Along the way, we'll get a great view of Washington DC's skyline as we pass by famous landmarks to include Watergate, the Kennedy Center, and Lincoln Memorial • Sunset is at ~7:30pm, so the timing will be perfect for a spectacular view of the flowering trees reflecting off the water. Bring a camera, and make use of your panoramic mode feature! • Discounted Cherry Blossom cocktail drinks will also be provided for our group! DC's cherry blossom collection is one of the largest and most historic in the U.S. Given as a gift from Japan in 1912, they symbolize clouds in Japan due to their nature of blooming en masse, besides being an enduring metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life. We'll get to see the numerous different types of cherry blossom trees, including the famous Yoshinos, as well as the Kwanzan, Weeping Japanese Cherry (or Higan Cherry), Uussuzumi Cherry, Sargent Cherry, and Snow Goose varieties. Peak bloom over the past 10 years has averaged out to April 1st, which coincidentally is right in line with the day of our charter. =) We will check people in at 5pm and the boat will leave PROMPTLY at 5:30pm. Following the charter, we will adjourn at Nick's Riverside Grill for food and drinks! The normal charge for this 2 hour tour is . We've got an early bird special for this event of ! Please note the boat does not serve food, and does have restrooms. — Metro and Parking We will be leaving out of Georgetown Washington Harbor. The boarding point is 1/2 block away (you’ll see the waterfront) from the address listed. Look for the red flag (12" x 12" in size) with the word "kayak" on it! I'll be on the pier on the side closest to the Georgetown Waterfront Park! The closest Metro stop is Foggy Bottom (Orange, Blue, and Silver lines), about a 15 minute walk. We suggest using wmata.com for travel planning. Don't forget to account for Metro, traffic, and parking delay. If you are driving, you will need to find street parking or a garage. I recommend using parkopedia.com for garage parking planning. Event Check-in PLEASE BE ON TIME. If you are late (arrive after the start time of 5pm), you risk the possibility of not being able to join us for the event. We will have a master list of all those that have paid. It’s not required, but I recommend printing out your payment confirmation as a backup. When you check-in, your RSVP will be listed under the name of the Paypal or credit card account used to make payment. Typically, this is your LEGAL name as shown on your driver's license. Sometimes, it may be under a company name if you set up your Paypal or credit card account that way. If you are not sure what it is, please take a moment to log into your Paypal account (it will say "Welcome, [your account name]" at the top) or your credit card account to find out. If you are RSVP'd under someone else's payment, please use that name for check-in. Refund Policy Since we paid in advance for this event, all sales are final unless the event is canceled or rescheduled. If the event is canceled, you will receive a full refund. If the event is rescheduled, an UPDATE will be posted at the top of the event posting, and the UPDATE will also be sent as an email to the yes RSVPs. A full refund will be given to those that let us know within 3 calendar days of the UPDATE email if you are unable to make the new date. No refunds will be given after that time. Thanks for understanding. =) Ticket Resell Similar to a concert ticket or a football game ticket, you are free to sell your ticket to someone else if you are unable to attend. Work out payment between yourselves, and have the seller only send the organizer a "message" letting us know the full name and Meetup profile URL (if a member) of the person taking your spot.I host a lot of events and groups, so please also let us know the event name and group name the ticket transfer is for. You must let us know by the RSVP close time of 5pm on the day of the event. Special Needs Since we paid in advance for this event, all sales are final unless the event is canceled or rescheduled. If the event is canceled or rescheduled, an UPDATE will be posted at the top of the event posting, and the UPDATE will also be sent as an email to the yes RSVPs. A full refund will be submitted no later than Wednesday of the following week. For rescheduled events, you must let us know within 3 calendar days of the UPDATE email if you are unable to make the new date… no refunds will be given after that time. If any one of the following is not available for service, we'll need to do so: Metrorail is not running to all stops, Uber / UberSUV / taxis are not running or available at (or near) standard rates, venue(s) are not open. I'll post an UPDATE to the top of the event posting by 5pm on the day of our event with the details. Rain Policy Since the lower level of the boat is enclosed, this event is rain or shine! Special Needs If you have any special needs (e.g. wheelchair, dietary for events with food included, etc.), let us know in advance (a week or more before the event) and we will do our best to accommodate.
