Event on 2016-08-14 13:00:00
UPDATE #1: There are fewer than 10 early bird spots left and the price will increase from to when the early bird spots are gone or by Sun. Aug. 7th (whichever comes first). To be fair to those who want to join in and are ready to make payment, I'll be removing those that haven't paid by Sun. July 31st. So make payment to *truly* lock in your spot (see the "Payment" section of the event posting). If you've already made payment, the Paypal email you received is confirmation that we've received your payment (no need to email me asking for ticket confirmation). This UPDATE has been emailed to the yes RSVPs. I hope to see you there! — Some of you know I bartended at Ultrabar (1000+ person bar / club) every weekend for fun for the longest time (see 27 second mark of this video… http://youtu.be/ZQw7VvmiBh8 ). Wonder how I got started? Well, I took an intense 5 week course from Professional Bartending School in Arlington, and became a certified bartender. If you've ever thought it'd be fun to try bartending… well, here's your chance! I have made special arrangements with the Professional Bartending School (one of DC's most respected bartending schools) and recruited Brian Kepler, a certified bartender with 17 years direct bartending experience, to show us what it's like to be a bartender. Join us for this informative, interactive, and fun 2 – 3 hour introductory seminar and hands on (yes, HANDS ON!) training class as we: • Learn how to make 30+ of the most popular and requested drinks, shooters, martinis, and specialty drinks such as a refreshing Mojito perfect for summertime, Blue Hawaiian, Kamikaze, Woo Woo, White Russian, Long Island, to name a few. • Are provided with the highest quality instruction • Train under simulated barroom conditions using a full range of bar tools and equipment • Learn about glassware • Learn different methods of mixing • Learn various cocktail recipes • Learn bartending tricks • Learn how to handle a crowded bar • We'll each get 0 credit we can use towards their full certification course. Please make sure to mention you were referred by the 20s & 30s Going Out Group to get the course discount! As soon as we walk into the school, we'll find it hard to believe that we are not in a real bar. The school is designed as a real bar. Whether we are a beginner or an experienced bartender, this course will help us gain a basic introductory insight into the exciting world of bartending. We are privileged to have Brian Kepler, who has 17 years direct bartending experience in some of the top bars, restaurants, and clubs from coast to coast, as our instructor. From Shmitty McGee's in Ocean City, MD to Johnny Foley's Irish House in San Francisco, CA, Brian brings a wealth of bartending experience to the table. (The school reserves the right to substitute instructors if needed). Our class consists of 1 – 2 hours of lessons, followed by 1 hour of hands on bar training where we'll step behind a bar to practice our new skills, tips on techniques, and most importantly, what it feels like on the other side of the bar. Please note that we will be using colored water to simulate the different liquors, we will *not* be using real liquor. No bartending school I know of uses real liquor for both liability and cost purposes. We will each practice and get to make 20 – 30 drinks. Can you imagine the state of each person and waste if real liquor was used? We are there to learn, not get inebriated. We can do that at home after we learned everything we need to! We've got an early bird special for this event of ! The first 25 paid sign-ups, or those who pay by Sun. Aug. 7th (whichever comes first) get the early bird price! After that, the ticket price will go to . We have a LIMITED number of spots so make sure to RSVP early and make payment to get the early bird price! To make payment, please follow the steps in the "Payment" section of the event posting. Also please know that your RSVP is not guaranteed unless we receive payment. When you pay, your online receipt is confirmation that we have received your payment. Come join us, tell a friend, and let's have a good time learning what it's like to be a bartender. I hope to see you there for this fun, informative, and interactive class! – J.T. — Metro and Parking A few blocks from the Courthouse Metro stop (Blue, Orange, Silver lines). We suggest Metro / cabbing if you can. I suggest Metro / cabbing / Uber'ing if you can. I also recommend using wmata.com for travel planning. Don't forget to account for Metro, traffic, and parking delays. If you are driving, you will need to find street parking or a garage. I recommend using parkopedia.com for garage parking planning. Payment Paypal account not required. Please follow the instructions below for making payment (if payment by smartphone doesn't work, please try your computer). Payment at the door will be permitted only should the event not sell out. A lot of our events do sell out, so we recommend you secure your spot online early. If you make payment for less than the current ticketed price displayed without prior correspondence, your RSVP will be removed. 1. Select "Yes" under "Will you attend?" (or select "Change" RSVP to add more guests if you've already purchased ticket(s)) 2. Enter the number of guests coming and click "Finish RSVP" 3. Click "Pay Now" (or "Pay Online Now") at the top of the event posting near the ticket price per person 4. Verify correct dollar amount for number of people you're paying for. Modify if appropriate, click "Pay Now" or "Check Out" button 5. If you don't have a Paypal account, click "Pay with a Debit or Credit Card" 6. If you have a Paypal account, simply log in, and pay as you normally would via Paypal Event Check-in We will have a master list of all those that have paid. It’s not required, but I recommend printing out your payment confirmation as a backup. When you check-in, your RSVP will be listed under the name of the Paypal or credit card account used to make payment. Typically, this is your LEGAL name as shown on your driver's license. Sometimes, it may be under a company name if you set up your Paypal or credit card account that way. If you are not sure what it is, please take a moment to log into your Paypal account (it will say "Welcome, [your account name]" at the top) or your credit card account to find out. If you are RSVP'd under someone else's payment, please use that name for check-in.
